51st Merdeka Logo From NoktahHitam
I’m sure by now most of you would have heard the news of bloggers’ cry to fly the Jalur Gemilang - our National Flag, upside down. This is something that I DO NOT WANT and CANNOT DO. Like NoktahHitam, this gives me an uneasy feeling, in fact I was shocked when I first read about it over the news.
Even though the initiator quoted wikipedia that flying the national flag is not a sign of disrespect, but a sign of distress call instead… I still do not agree. The flag represent us, the countrymen (and women) of Malaysia. I am a Malaysian by root, and even though we can do better, we are far more blessed than our neighbouring countries. I may not care about the current news much, may not care about the politics scene much, but I still care when it comes to issues like this.
If you are observant enough, you would have seen the 51st Merdeka Logo placed on the right side of this blog. That is to show that I AM PROUD TO BE A MALAYSIAN. This is where I was born, this is where my heart belongs, no matter where I am. If you don’t favour the politicians, then by all means, hang their pictures upside down. Do not let the Jalur Gemilang pays for the mistakes of the country’s politicians. No matter which politicians/parties governs our country, remember, OUR FLAG WILL REMAIN THE SAME. IT WILL ALWAYS REPRESENT YOU, no matter how much you would like to deny that… but we’re Malaysians no matter what. Unless maybe if you change your nationality
Quoting NoktahHitam:
Rather than displaying our Jalur Gemilang unfashionably, here’s another solution. Put the 51st Merdeka Celebration logo on your blog!
