Vague Reveries

December. It’s the last month of the year. It also means Christmas is just around the corner. I’m not sure about any other place, but here in my hometown, the Christmas ambiance is not as it used to be. The feel of the season can only be felt when one enters the shopping malls. It’s not only during Christmas, it’s the same with “Hari Raya” and any other holidays. I guess it’s because of the lack of decorations in the city. City Hall, do something about it, restores the anticipation in the life of your people for the upcoming festivities. Without all the decorations, you make people like me only think about the auto insurance that needs renewing next year!

What does Christmas means to you? This is a season for giving, sharing and love. It’s not only about the gift, how expensive it is, of how useful it is, but most importantly, the meaning behind it. It’s simple. It spells L-O-V-E. That’s the driving force that makes someone wants to give another person a gift for the holiday, to see how the receiving party’s face lights up with happiness at the sight of the wrapped packages.

Wait! It’s not only wrapped packages that you can give away … but also some kindness to others. Be a little kinder than you usually are, more than necessary. Remember the homeless, remember those who are less fortunate. You can give something that will costs you nothing but some time to spare - prayers for those who needs it.
