31st August - Malaysia’s National Day

August 31, 2009 - 11:03 am 2 Comments

It’s a Monday, and I’m home! Thanks to the date today, 31st August - Malaysia’s National Day and of course, it’s a public holiday here…

So, to my friends here in Malaysia, what’s your plan for the day? I know a member of my futsal team has gone to play paintball, according to her FB’s status post :P Kan Leyana kan? hehe … That’s a game that I have yet to try, maybe I’ll get the team to organise a paintball outing after raya. At such a long weekend like this week, it would be nice if we have RVs here and we can go for a road trip someplace and camp with friends and families. If we custom-built a rv, there’s the concern of rv towing service should there’s a breakdown with the vehicle though.

As for me, I’m done with the basic house chores today, so for the rest of the day, I’ll be lazing around in my room, typing and clicking away on this very keyboard. Then I’ll be going to a Ramadhan Bazaar to buy food for buka puasa. Now, that is something that I cannot do during weekdays due to my work schedule. Onde-onde, please be available today…. :D

P.S: If I find onde-onde on sale today, you will see this post will be updated with a photo of them! If there’s none, believe me.. I’d be disappointed and might just have to make them myself :P

Goodbye KL

November 13, 2008 - 8:30 pm 13 Comments

Sitting in the departure hall at LCCT for our 9.25pm flight. That’s another 1 hour 25 minutes away when I started composing this post.

Even though there’s no Disney cruises in KL, mom and I manage to squeeze in some time and made a visit to Beryl’s Chocolate Kingdom.

The signage on the wall that will greet you upon your entry

The chocolate mixer

There were quite a few of unique chocolate flavour manufactured in that place, but what really lured my mom was the durian chocolate. As for me, it’s gotta be the Black Bitter Chocolate.

Durian filling

Apart from that, the ones that quite special was the chocolate with sesame seeds and the other being chilies chocolate! LOL! I didn’t get to try that, but mom did.  Yes, they give free samples for you to try.

Black Bitter Chocolate

I would love to write more, but I better get ready to be among the first to queue up, you know how the process of this low cost airlines goes :P It’s either you’re the first or the last. No point in joining the queue when there are already a long line of passengers ahead of you! :)

Goodbye KL, hope to see you again soon!

Dinner In KL

November 11, 2008 - 11:35 pm 19 Comments

I just got back from dinner a while ago and I’m so full since we had so many dishes of food. The following food was some of them:

Chicken Wings

A few skewers of satay

Oyster omelette

There were 3 more dishes; Chinese-style fried carrot cake, grilled stingray and Penang Char Kueh Teow  which I was just too lazy to dig my camera out of my bag to take photos of them.

And who met Mom & I for dinner, treating us dinner on our first night here?

…..

…..

Yup, these two! You know who they are? ;)

These two were nice enough to meet me on a very short notice. Drumsticks was supposed to come too but cancelled at the last minute due to some unforeseen circumstances ;) Hope to meet you some other time, drumsticks :) Once again, thanks for meeting me and my mom, guys! :) drumsticks, no worries, it’s just not meant to be for this time ….

Bongkersz smiled before he continued attacking the food. Can you see the difference of the amount of food on the table compared to the first one?

Anyhow, all the dishes ordered was proven to be too much to eat for just the four of us, so Bong took home the satay while I now have the fried carrot cake shoved in the mini-fridge in the hotel room, ready to be eaten tomorrow :P

Cibol posed for the camera with the oyster omelette

Off to bed now, it’s been such a long day for me… with me being up at 4.30 a.m. to go to the airport this morning and up till now. I have yet to think how to fill my stomach with the free breakfast tomorrow and then the carrot cake too… I just don’t want food to go to waste ;)

Fly Birdie Fly…

November 11, 2008 - 12:06 pm 6 Comments

As I’m composing this post, I’m not at work nor at home sitting on my “personal” home theater seating enjoying any movies. I’m thousand of miles away on air,on board of an AirAsia airplane to KL :P A very short notice trip to accompany my Mom to attend to some matter in KL. The steward and stewardess are now pushing the trolley on the aisle selling goods at the moment, and we’re encountering bad weather so the plane is a bit on the rocky side now.

I would like to meet my blogger friends in KL, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to spare some time for them as I’ll only be in KL for 2 nights only. Will be back to KK on the third night. Drumsticks, Bongkersz, Cibol? :P And maybe NoktahHitam? Life4hire, Callister? Hopefully I’ll run into you guys somewhere :D

Speaking of flying, I went outstation to Tawau for a day trip last Saturday. It’s been 10 years or so since my last trip to that place. Too bad I didn’t get the chance to go around the town since I was there for work. But I did manage to take a photo of the following plant on our way to visit a site.

Recognise this?

Yes, it’s a cocoa tree. It’s been years since I last saw this too! LOL! The staff there must think that I’m weird to ask the driver to stop so that I could take a photo of it! Hey, it’s not like I can see cocoa trees everyday in the city, eh? :P

Once my work was done, the Tawau colleagues of mine took me to the Isuzu Fair not far from the office. They wanted to see the AF singer, Mila, but she would only be performing that night. Nevertheless, it was quite happening at the fair anyway. We got 3 food coupons and a bottle of drinking water each as an entry gift much to our delight since we haven’t had our lunch then. We’re suckers for free food - or rather for all freebies. :P There were games and performances at the fair, but what really gained our interest was a group of musicians that plays modern songs using traditional instruments. The only lady in the group was quite a looker with deep dimples on both cheeks, and she has a wonderful voice too. And those colleagues of mine just went crazy with their phone cameras and digicam, zooming on her face… men, they’re alike everywhere when it comes to pretty ladies! LOL!

The magic show followed suit, though it was just simple magic, it was entertaining enough that we watched until the last show. The kids especially went berserk with excitement during the show. I didn’t take any videos of the show though, but my Tawau colleagues did. Maybe I’ll ask a copy from them when they come over to the KK office soon.

Anyway, by the time I posted this for you to read, I’ll be in KL ground. While I’m there, I hope I’ll be able to do some shopping. :P I’m a woman, need I say more to justify my need for shopping? ;)

P.S: Will try to post the video of the musicians once I managed to upload the file soon

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

October 1, 2008 - 12:57 am 24 Comments

It’s been 30 days since the fasting month started. Takbir raya being aired on TV and radio marks that Aidilfitri is here. Time for a celebration,  for the  family to get together. The heat of raya can be felt for the past few days at work. Lot of people were already on leave to go back to their hometowns. Gosh, I envy those who were already on holiday while I had to work since I’m a new staff that doesn’t have the privilege to do the same just yet. But it’s okay.. I still have the 2-days Public Holidays to spend with my extended family members that are back here for hari raya.

1st day of hari raya were always spent at my mom’s brother- in-law’s (yes, my aunt’s husband la :P ) kampung, and this year is no exception. We’ll be leaving around 11 a.m later. It’s time to feast on great food! I’m sure my aunt’s in laws had already dig up their appetizer recipes by now along with the recipes must-have food for this celebration weeks ago.

One of the must-do activities is posing for the cameras with our baju raya :) I’m sure my cousin will be armed with his camera, and be the “official” photographer for everybody LOL!

Left to right: My cousins, Shasha, Mirul (his middle name is Fitri as he was born during Aidilfitri) and my one and only sister :)

Tintin and yours truly :)

The photos above was taken during raya last year. This year my sister and I will be wearing Indonesian Kebaya instead :)

I’m off to bed to get my beauty sleep now… Wishing everyone who celebrates, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir batin and happy holiday to non-Muslim Malaysians!
