Farewell 2010!

December 31st, 2010

About 15 minutes to go before the clock strikes midnight here in Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia) and all those within the same time zone, and the new year would be here to greet us whether we like it or not. Personally, I am  anxious to bid farewell to 2010, as I am hoping that 2011 will be a much, much better year for me and my loved ones.

2010 has been a very trying year, mostly a bad roller coaster rides throughout the year  for me. Of course, there were some good ones that worth bringing forward into 2011. I wouldn’t want to recap everything here, but this is what I can say; I learnt a lot from the things that happened in my life this year, but mostly, I learnt about patience and being grateful for all of it, be it good or bad. These experiences makes me a better, stronger person – that much I know. And, in God I trust.

What better way to end the year with a prayer, and the same goes with the last entry in this blog for 2010;

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Goodbye 2010! Thank you for the experience and the lessons. May those who made me happy, helped me through the difficulties be blessed abundantly and those who hurt me deeply be forgiven. May the pain, the sorrow and tears of sadness will pass by forever as 2010 would be and be replaced with joy and tears of happiness in the New Year to come.

A Day With The Family

December 25th, 2010

25th December, yes it is Christmas Day. It’s the special day which is great for family gathering, especially for the Christians. My family is no exception, despite the mix of religions within ourselves :) Food, laughter, joy with great bouquets of flowers in our midst – it was indeed a wonderful, merry Christmas. We are blessed!

It’s been a long day so far, and so will it be tomorrow – with a cousin’s engagement in the morning and another cousin’s wedding reception in the evening. I’m pooped, but I am enjoying the movie; “The Santa Claus 2″, despite having watched it again and again. So I’ll just watch this and will be off to bed right after.

Have a blessed, merry Christmas everyone – wherever you are :) Peace be with you.

Parents With Kids, Alert Please!

December 18th, 2010

I was in 1Borneo today with Tabz, my sis to spend time got breakfast and lunch treats from Mom.  Of course with Christmas a week away, the mall is buzzing with people shopping. To the parents with babies, toddlers and small kids out shopping for baby clothes and other Christmas shopping, please be alert of your kids whereabouts for they get lost easily in such busy shopping malls.

As we went out from a store, passed by the Boo Boo Land, we saw a toddler, about 3 years old standing nearby the escalator watching the carousel intently – ALONE! We stopped and Tabz asked the boy where were his daddy and mommy, and the boy just innocently smiled and mumbled something while looking around. About a minute or more later, then his dad came around from another direction and led him away. Not good! If there were some criminal who got to the kid the first before we did, he could’ve been abducted! It’s a good thing that the boy did not run away looking about for his parents too.

This happens a lot especially during festive season like this. I always hear announcement from the mall’s PA system about kids losing their parents in the midst of the shopping frenzy. If you have the tendency of getting too engrossed with your shopping, please leave your kids at home with someone to look after them.

On a happier note, HAVE FUN SHOPPING AND HAPPY HOLIDAY! :)

Gaya Street Christmas Fair

December 17th, 2010

I went to the Gaya Street Christmas Fair or whatever it is called, last night, and it was not much different than the Sunday Fair. There were anything and everything being sold there, except maybe for pinewood trophies, which could not be find here anyway I guess.

There were some cute little lit up houses at the Padang Merdeka along with that tall, white Christmas tree. I wanted to go there, but being the lazy me, after I filled my stomach with food, all I wanted to do was going home to my bed. We bought some “dirt” from Man-D and a cup of pudding from Momoi though.

Tonight would be the last night for the Christmas night fare at Gaya Street, should be the best day to go since many would be “lelong-ing” their goods. So to those that have not been to the fair, maybe you could tonight :) All in the name of getting a bit of that Christmas spirit …..
