Sunny’s Village, Kundasang

DISCLAIMER: To all of you idiots out there, I FREAKIN’ DO NOT OWN THIS PROPERTY! READ BEFORE ASKING FOR THE RATE FROM ME! (03.12.2011)

Right after work on Saturday afternoon, 7 of us went to Kundasang, Ranau to stay overnight at a Sunny’s Village chalet. It was raining so the journey to the highland was really foggy.

We reached our chalet for the night at about 3 p.m, and it was just at the roadside. Linda has already arrived from Sandakan earlier and checked in for us. Icho arrived around 5 p.m. so that made 8 of us altogether. Too bad 2 of our friends couldn’t make it at the last minute. Thanks to 4D and Joni for pitching in for the food even when they couldn’t make the trip, and to Lyn for doing the shopping and most of the food preparation.

Cecilia Lodge – the name of the chalet we stayed in for the weekend

The first thing we did after unloading the food and stuff from the vehicles was to have a tour of the chalet! :D The chalet is a 2-storey with a kitchen and 2 bedrooms upstairs and another 2 bedrooms downstairs. Both room upstairs have its own bathrooms/toilets while 1 of the rooms downstairs shares the one near the living area. But the view from the chalet is simply a a feast for the eyes!

The view from our rooms upstairs, surrounded by thick fog

It was really cold but nice at the same time. The only thing about places at the highlands are the cell phones lines are not that good. I had to move from one spot to another just the get enough signal to send out SMS to family and friends to tell them we have arrived safely. Maybe if this place install a cell phone repeater in future, the problem will not be as bad anymore ;)

One of the rooms upstairs, with the connecting balcony to enjoy the scenery and the crisp, fresh, cold air outside

The rate of RM400 is really cheap with such a spacious chalet. 3 of the rooms with bathrooms/toilets could fit it 3 people the rooms having 1 double bed and a single bed each, and the other room for 5 people with a double decker bed, a single and one with pull-out beds underneath.

Go down the stairs and you’ll find this living room

Walk out from the living room and you’ll encounter the verandah/dining area

I’ll save the dinner we had on that night for my food blog, SabahanCuisine :P The best thing view that I had the opportunity to experience was the sunrise from my bed. I slept at the single bed at one of the rooms at the upper floor, right next to the sliding door to the room’s balcony. I only had to slide open the door and this view greeted me….

The sunrise at about 5.45 a.m.

I went to bed around 1 a.m. and was already awake by 5.30 a.m. but only peeked out 15 minutes later. I’m glad I did though. I looked over to the left and another magnificent view kept me in awe …

A clear view of Mount Kinabalu

It wasn’t my first time seeing this, but it never fails to make me appreciate the beauty of nature. Upon seeing these photos, some of the gang asked me why didn’t I wake them up. As if they could if I try to wake them up as early as I did with the partying they did till the wee hour of the morning LOL! Well, only 4 of them that did the extreme partying while the rest of us went to bed … but still… none of the rest would want to wake up, with such cold air clouding their sleep! LOL

Now I’ll have to bid you goodnight, as it is really late (midnight) already, at least for me. Hope you enjoyed the scenery as much as we did.
