My Birthday Bash!

September 27th, 2008

Last Saturday, we celebrated my birthday. It was the eve of my birthday, waiting for the hour to strike midnight to signify that I am again a year older. You can read more about it from Man-D’s blog entry (thank you for that Man-D), for this is a post to acknowledge how much I enjoyed my birthday celebration – thanks to my dearest significant other and beloved friends!

People says that with age, comes wisdom… but unfortunately, this doesn’t apply to our circle of friends! LOL! We really did make a fool of ourselves, but having a fantastic time doing so … it was like the best karaoke session ever…! Even those that didn’t consume any alcoholic beverages acted as if they did… not to mention all the camera flashing to capture those idiotic moments, the foolish actions we did …

Apart from all the fun, the preparation they did to make it a successful party.. they got a backpack for me … ready for our Manila vacation in May next year! Keeping my fingers crossed that AirAsia would not cancel the direct flight from Kota Kinabalu to Clark, Manila though… Since Man-D got a friend in Brazil, we might be considering about some Brazil vacation packages after that, and give me more chance to use that backpack of mine! :)

It was seriously a night to remember, filled with so much fun because of these bunch of people…

I still love them to bits even though I ended up looking like this after the cake cutting session! ROTFLMAO!

To all my dearest friends:-

Thanks for the cake, for the gift, for the drinks and most important of all… for being there to make that eve a night to remember!!! Thanks for being my friends! *Hugs* To the love of my life … thank you for loving me and being there to celebrate my day with the rest! I love you all!  So lucky to have you guys in my life :D

First OT In Years…..

September 19th, 2008

Today I did my first overtime (OT) in years… I think the last overtime I did was about 7 years ago on my 2nd (or was it 3rd?) job! I finished work at 10 p.m today, 5 hours straight… LOL! Finally left the office compound around 10.30, stopped to have something to eat before reaching home around 11.30 p.m. Now my shoulders and back are stiff from sitting at the same position for most time the whole day, especially having to reach quite far to the laptop. Why? Because the network port on the laptop is faulty (loose), hence I cannot move the laptop once I get the connection; or else risking being disconnected from the Intranet. It’s annoying to try and get the cable plugged in properly to the port again, especially with me having to access the files in the network and printing my work. The awkward angle of my hands reaching out definitely caused me discomfort. But miraculously, I am still happy even though I worked really late today. Even though I know I still have tonnes of work to do tomorrow, I’m still happy. Unlike with my previous job where the boredom was killing me ever so slowly LOL! I found that it is more tiring to pretend to have works to do than actually HAVING works that need to be done :D

The loose network port on the laptop gave me stiff shoulders and back since I couldn’t move the laptop much

I hope the boss will order some new laptops for our use. She did mention that yesterday, but I know it’s not going to be anytime soon. Luckily, such long overtime is not going to be practiced frequently in my line of work, at least for now. It might change if more workload are added to my job description though. This time, it is because of the ISO 9001:2000 audit that we’re going to have soon. A lot of pending work to be done. Nevertheless, I will make sure I will have a balance lifestyle, I do not… I repeat, do not want to be a slave to work! :D Workaholic and me just doesn’t go well together :P

Hey, speaking of Over Time, it reminds me of my favourite Japanese drama from years back too.. in the year 2000 I think and the following theme song of the drama  is still one of my favourite Japanese songs today :) This song brings so much memory with my friends who watched this drama with me back then… the drama series was so famous back then… LOL

I Believe (English Version) – Yuko Yamaguchi

When I’m feeling small
When it’s cold outside
I don’t know who I should believe
And when I needed someone special
just by my side
Who was there?

When I’m feeling old
When it’s rain outside
I don’t know who is holding me
And when I need a little kind and tender moment
Who’s with me?

I believe someday I will love
Someone who’s by my side
Oh someday
My special one will come alone
I keep on praying

When I’m lost inside
When I’m down and out
I don’t know who I should recall
And when I needed someone precious
just be my side
No one there no one was there

I believe someday I will love
Someone who’s by my side
Oh someday
My special one will come alone
I’ll pray everyday

I believe someday I will love
Someone who’s by my side
Oh someday oh someday
I keep on praying everyday

I prefer the original song in Japanese, but this one is easier for you to understand what I meant by uplifting, especially those of yo who have never heard of this song before. By the way, this was also the drama that introduced me to the group, The Brilliant Green … but I shall keep that for another reverie moments :)

Icy Cold Water Is Good For You?

September 17th, 2008

I now work for a construction company that demands a lot of drivers from time to time. Before I left work today, my boss asked me if I have friends who are looking for a job as drivers. It would be great if there is a web site here in Sabah that accepts logistics resumes specifically. But then again, internet access is not available to everybody; and the fact that there are still a lot of people out there that is not IT literate.

Now enough about work, what I need now is a massage! :D My shoulders are so tired, the muscles are so tight it feels very uncomfortable at the moment. If I can go the detoxing treatment by submerging my feet inside a basin of water of diluted mountain salt (don’t remember which mountain), it’ll be great. This is believed to pull out the negative ions from our body. I tried this a few months back, it’s not as relaxing as the full  body massage, but it was quite good.

First, a plastic basin was filled with water and ice cubes. Then two teaspoon of the mountain salt were added to it. After that, brace yourself and submerge your feet in the biting, ice cold water! It have to be icy cold water to make it really works…

Endure this for the next 30 minutes.

One will have to endure the process of submerged feet in the icy cold water for 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes will hurt, but it gets better. You can actually feel some needlelike feeling poking through the base of your feet, the “pulling effect” of the unhealthy negative ions.

The reddish, numb feet is being massaged with some herb massaging oil to circulate the blood back after 30 minutes in the cold water.

Amazingly, the ice cubes in the plastic basin that I use to submerge my feet melted in a very short time. The “experts” told me that my body is “heaty”, due to my high blood pressure. It could be true as I see the ice cubes in Lyn’s basin were still… well.. ice cubes! I actually felt a bit better after that, but I still prefer the traditional or reflexology body/feet massage.

To get an instant relieve from some muscles’ discomfort is to pour the diluted mountain salt water on the arm and lights a lighter for a few minutes.

Magic? Light my arm up if you can, sugar!!! LOL!

Beware, this can only be done to those without body hair. You don’t want to get burn up do you? :P Now, can someone tell me what products being used and what treatment is this? I forgot to ask… teehee!

Just Another Sunday…

September 14th, 2008

Sunday. My parents will be back from their 4 days holiday to Penang/Kedah/Perlis this afternoon. Sunday will also means my day to do the house chores, since it’s the only day off I have with the new job now. It’s high time to use one of the vacuum cleaners and clean off those cobwebs on the ceiling and every corner of the house, the favourite places for the spiders to make their home. I seriously don’t know how a career mother juggle her time between work, house chores and taking care of her kids. But no wonder some of my married friends just don’t see us the singles ones as often as we used to. Teehee!

This is my second Sunday since I started my new job. It still feels weird having to work on Saturdays and only have a day off in week. I had to be in the office for the whole day yesterday too for a training. I like my new job, but I’m missing the 5-days a week working day that I used to have with my previous boring job! LOL! I don’t have much time to blog hop either so I’ll try to do that today too. One drawback about a company that uses its own server is that, they only give internet access to certain personnel while the rest just use intranet. No more blogging from work either, but I don’t really have much free time to blog from work anyway :P

Last Sunday I woke up to the beautiful view of sunrise and magnificent Mount Kinabalu, with the very cool air. Time really doesn’t wait for us does it… but it’s so nice to have memories for us to bring forward … to have fond memories with family and friends … and its being Sunday, it reminds me of friends of mine who woke up with hung over (no, I was not one of them LOL!) last week and had this for breakfast …

Mee Hoon Soup! A classic cure for those with hang over! LOL!

After having these and more the night before …..

These were just some of the drink the 6 of them had the night before. Salute you people lah! LOL!

You can read more of the event from Man-D’s post. She mentioned all the choice of drink these people had. Like I said in the comment part of that post, I didn’t join the drinking session as I was having a bad case of gastric attack. But if I did join them, I wouldn’t have last as long as they did.. I would’ve stop at 5 bottles, top! At least the “veterans” of the gang have a very high alcohol endurance level, unlike someone who went overboard and got sick the whole day, the day after! ROTFLMAO!

The Unexpected Gift

September 10th, 2008

It’s going to be a tiring month, with me trying to learn as much as I can, attending trainings while helping my boss to co-ordinate them at the same time, checking and arranging the documents to be filed, to name a few :P But all in all, I’m still happy even though I’m tired most of the time at the end of the day. I sleep as early as 8 p.m. now, could be because of the sudden surge of sugar level in my blood once I eat after fasting the whole day. But really annoys me is my eyeglasses hurting my ears, the place where it rests. It is now out of proportion with my habits of falling asleep with the glasses on! Hehe … I need a new pair, but just couldn’t afford to at the moment, and I’m just too lazy to wear contact lens everyday. I’ve heard of Lasik before, a procedure using laser to correct vision but I’m sure it’s way out of my financial capability. It would be nice to be able to have a perfect vision without the aid of glasses or contact lens, but for now I just need to save up for a new pair of glasses. Sheesh, I never seem to be out of list of things to buy huh? LOL!

Doesn’t need a new pair of glasses for me to notice a grasshopper on this flower. Took this photo outside the chalet that we stayed at Sunny’s Village  last Sunday

Anyway, if you’re in the same circle of friends with me, then you would have known that I met the famous SuiTuaPui a.k.a STP last Friday. Man-D and I went to Deleeton Hotel (yes, I was the driver) and STP was already waiting at the hotel lobby in his signature yellow t-shirt! LOL! He is definitely easy to recognise even though it was the first time we’re meeting him. I waited in the car, and Man-D got off to get STP. He thought Man-D was me!!! Ala, STP… you gave away the fact that you don’t visit our blogs much for you couldn’t tell which is which even after all those photos I pasted on the blog, and so did Man-D! LOL! But it’s okay, I’m sure from now on you’ll have no problem telling us apart.. at least I hope so! :P Since STP and Man-D blogged about that night, I won’t blog about it again for you can go to their blogs instead :D Oh, wishing kpenyu2000 a very happy belated birthday too … and thanks so much for the treat, even though you make us owe STP another dinner still… haha!

The unexpected gift wrapped in PINK! Who gave me an early birthday present???

Okay, let’s forego the mystery this time. STP was kind enough to get me a gift, he said it’s for my new job and my upcoming birthday. So nice of you, STP.. thank you! :) And it’s just something that I need to use at my new workplace. But it’ll have until next month though since its being a fasting month now :D

A mug complete with a teaspoon. A very useful gift for a coffee lover like me :)

It’s not yet my birthday, and I already got a gift. *Blushes * Malulah… hahaha .. but since STP started it, who else wants to give me presents? Hihihih … All in all, it’s a real pleasure to get to know you too, STP.. and likewise to the generous and funny kpenyu2000 too :) Lain kali, belanjalah lagi.. :P
